Position description

A postdoctoral position modeling nonadiabatic dynamics, polariton chemistry, and exciton-polariton optical properties is available in the group of Christine Isborn in the Department of Chemistry at the University of California, Merced. The position will involve simulating the generation, evolution, and fate of electronic excitations and the resulting spectroscopic signature for molecules in complex environments. This project will involve working closely with experimentalists to model optical and vibrational properties of chromophores strongly coupled to light. The scholar will be charge of running appropriate electronic structure calculations using a variety of standard and non-standard packages. Necessary code will be implemented as stand alone programs or within existing code, generally with python. Duties also include: presenting at group meetings, attending conferences, mentoring students, and writing journal articles.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications

Ph.D. in computational chemistry or physics, or related area.

Preferred qualifications

The ideal candidate has experience running electronic structure calculations and has expertise with a variety of computational approaches, such as excited state methods, QM/MM simulations, molecular dynamics, simulating spectra, analyzing charges and molecular or environmental configurations, along with experience coding in python.
