Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an initial appointment is $66,259. See Unit 18 Lecturer table  for the salary range for this position. These are academic year appointments and subject to the normal processes of academic review. Salary is prorated in accordance instructional workload calculation.

Position description

The School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts anticipates hiring full and part time lecturer(s) to teach courses in Public Health for Academic Year 2024-25. Courses being offered may include but not limited to:

Global Health
Environmental Health

In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor is responsible for creating a syllabus, holding weekly office hours (2 hours/week), and grading examinations and/or papers. The instructor may also be required to hold discussion and lab sections or supervise a graduate student teaching assistant.

This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and appropriate collective bargaining agreement. Full time and part time positions available. Three courses in Fall and three courses in Spring are equivalent to full time position. Part time varies based on need and availability.

Fall Semester: 8/1/2024 – 12/31/2024
Spring Semester: 1/1/2025 – 5/31/2025

Qualifications

Basic qualifications

Advanced degree in related field and experience teaching at the college or university level is required. Must be able to provide a record of excellence in teaching.
