Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an initial appointment is $66,259. See Unit 18 Lecturer table for the salary range for this position. These are academic year appointments and subject to the normal processes of academic review. Salary is prorated in accordance instructional workload calculation.

Fall Semester: 8/1/2024 – 12/31/2024
Spring Semester: 1/1/2025 – 5/31/2025

Position description

Applicants internal to the UCM Department of Applied Mathematics who had an appointment in 2023-2024 and apply by the “Initial Review Date” of 3/15/2024 will be considered prior to all other applicants.

The School of Natural Sciences anticipates hiring full and part-time lecturer positions to teach the following subjects in AY 2024-2025:

Biostatistics
Preparatory Calculus
Calculus I & II
Introduction to Scientific Data Analysis
Statistics for Scientific Data Analysis
Calculus I & II for Physical Sciences
Vector Calculus, Linear Algebra and Differential Equations
Probability and Statistics
Numerical Analysis
Other courses as needed

In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor will be evaluating student work and exams, calculating and posting grades, and holding regular posted office hours each week.

This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and appropriate collective bargaining agreement. Appointments for AY 2024/2025 and/or Fall 2024 semester are reviewed in April, and for Spring 2025 semester are reviewed in October. The posting will remain open through February 2025 to accommodate upcoming course needs and new applicants.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications

Advanced degree in Applied Mathematics or related field and experience teaching at the college or university level is required.
