UC Merced is also building the Downtown Campus Center, a $33 million, three-story administrative building in the heart of Merced.
UC Merced is seeking a new faculty member at the Professor rank, with a focus on medical education at multiple levels. This is a unique opportunity for an individual to join a growing multidisciplinary group of faculty interested in Medical Education, Clinical Sciences, or Human Health Sciences and assist in the development of Medical Education at the newest University of California campus.
Duties include leading efforts at UC Merced in developing Medical Education at all levels. This may include discussions with regional partners to identify ways UC Merced can participate in medical (M.D.) education in the region, support undergraduate pre-med programs on campus and pipeline programs in the region, and explore options for Post-baccalaureate program on campus. Additional duties include teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, mentoring students, and conducting research relevant to human health sciences. Responsibilities also include contributing to the growth of human health sciences on campus.
The ideal candidate will have a Medical Degree and/or a doctorate in field relevant to Human Health Sciences such as Bioengineering, Immunology, Molecular and Cell Biology, Psychology, Public Health or other relevant discipline. The ideal candidate will have an outstanding publication record, an interest and experience in medical education, success in obtaining external funding, demonstrated leadership in program building, and a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We are particularly interested in adding a faculty member with research interests that focus on health conditions with high prevalence and impact in the San Joaquin Valley. Examples include but are not limited to asthma, obesity, diabetes, and infectious diseases.
The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2019.
