UC Merced is also building the Downtown Campus Center, a $33 million, three-story administrative building in the heart of Merced.

We are looking highly motivated and qualified research specialist (Assistant or Associate level) to work on modeling, simulation and experiment of flow and heat transfer. The specialist will be responsible for conducting both numerical and experimental studies on mass and energy transfer and energy conversion. The specialist will also write papers and progress reports describing the results of the evaluations and investigations.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a master's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a related area prior to starting the position. Appointees at the Assistant rank must have five years of experience in a relevant specialization, and appointees at the Associate rank must have five to ten years of experience in a relevant specialization. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also required. Highly self-motivated individuals who have demonstrated the ability to successfully conduct independent scientific research independently are desirable. Preference will be given to those applicants with strong backgrounds in one or more of the following areas: computational fluid dynamics, numerical and experimental heat transfer, and phase-change heat transfer in manufacturing processes.
