Lecturer in Engineering: Summer 2016, AY2016-2017 (Anticipated)
Position description
The University of California is a dynamic new university campus in Merced, California, which opened in September 2005 as the tenth campus of the University of California and the first American research university in the 21st century. In keeping with the mission of the University to provide teaching, research and public service of the highest quality, UC Merced provides new educational opportunities at the undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels through three academic schools: Engineering, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences/Humanities/Arts.
The School of Engineering anticipates hiring full and part-time Lecturers to teach courses in the following disciplines in Summer 2016 and the 2016-2017 Academic Year (Fall 2016, Spring 2017):
Bioengineering
Computer Science and Engineering
Environmental Engineering
Materials Science and Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Qualifications:
A record of teaching excellence that demonstrates broad experience working with students of different abilities, ethnic backgrounds, and educational attainment; a record of scholarly achievement pertinent to teaching of Engineering classes preferred. PhD and/or Masters and experience teaching at the college or university level are required.

Please also indicate subject areas of interest regarding teaching.
This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Salary is based on an annual full time rate of $49,012.00.
