Position title: Teaching Assistant
Salary range: See Table 18 for the salary range for this position. Salary is based on an annual full-time salary of $50,000. Teaching Assistants will not be appointed for more than 50% time during the Fall & Spring semesters. 
Percent time: 25% - 50%
OR
Up to 100% in summer session only
Anticipated start: Summer 2023-May 17, 2023
Fall 2023-August 16, 2023
Spring 2024 -January 1, 2024
Position duration: Duration may be up to one semester or a summer term.

Position description

The School of Engineering anticipates hiring Teaching Assistants for lower- and upper-division courses for Academic Year 2023-2024, including Summer Session 2023, in the following disciplines:

Bioengineering
Engineering Fundamentals (courses may include the following: Introduction to Materials, Statics and Dynamics, Circuit Theory, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Strength of Materials, Spatial Analysis, Information Systems, etc.)

Qualifications

Basic qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in the subject area or a related field
  2. Maintenance of a qualifying grade point average
  3. Academically eligible to hold the appointment (as outlined in the Graduate Policies and Procedures Handbook)
  4. Must be a registered UC Merced graduate student in full-time residence (registered for 12 units per term appointed; for summer appointment registered in 12 units in the previous term)
  5. Must have passed an Oral English Proficiency Examination (if applicable)
