Position description

A full-time Postdoctoral Scholar position is available in Dr. Xiaoyi Lu’s PADSYS Lab to investigate scalable system software for emerging scientific applications such as disease surveillance, real-time data processing, deep learning, and so on. Specifically, the Postdoctoral Scholar is expected to conduct intellectual research involving parallel and distributed computing, deep learning system software, and parallel algorithm optimization with the guidance of the PI, write research articles with the PI aimed at disseminating the obtained results from the research performed in the PADSYS Lab and play an essential role in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications

Applicants are required to have a Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science or a related field. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Additional qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following: high-performance computing (MPI, OpenMP, and CUDA), Big Data analytics (Hadoop, Spark), deep learning (PyTorch, TensorFlow), cloud computing, Bayesian methods, and so on. The successful candidate will have at least 1-2 first-author peer-reviewed research papers in major HPC and Big Data conferences.

Preferred qualifications

Applicants are preferred to have a strong background in mathematics or algorithm design. Additional publications in other areas will be a plus.
