Position overview

Position title: Lecturer
Salary range: Salary is based on an annual full time rate of $62,455.00 and commensurate with experience.
Anticipated start: July 1, 2022
Position duration: Full time and part time positions available. Three courses in Fall and three courses in Spring are equivalent to full time position.
Part time varies based on need and availability.

Position description

The School of Engineering anticipates hiring full and part-time lecturer positions to teach the following courses in Mechanical Engineering for AY 2022-2023:

ENGR 65 Circuit Theory
ENGR 151 Strength of Materials
ME 21 Engineering Computing
ME 120 Component Design
ME 137 Computer Aided Engineering
ME 140 Vibrations and Controls
Other courses as needed

In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor is responsible for creating a syllabus, holding weekly office hours (minimum 2 hours/week), and grading examinations and/or papers. The instructor may also be required to hold discussion sections or supervise a graduate student teaching assistant or reader.

This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Academic Year: 7/1/2022 – 6/30/2023
Fall Semester: 8/1/2022 – 12/31/2022
Spring Semester: 1/1/2023 – 5/31/2023

Qualifications

Basic qualifications

Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and experience teaching at the college or university level are required. Must be able to provide a record of excellence in teaching that demonstrates broad experience working with students of different abilities, ethnic backgrounds, and educational attainment.
