Position description

The Fundamental Tribology Lab at the University of California Merced seeks applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in Computational Materials Interfaces. The primary responsibility of this position will be to carry out molecular dynamics simulations to study surface and interface phenomena, especially using reactive potentials. The Postdoctoral Scholar will also be expected to mentor graduate students in the group, write and submit manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals and present research at professional conferences.

Applicants must have obtained a PhD in engineering or science with expertise in molecular dynamics simulations. Previous experience with reactive potentials is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also required.

Salary is based on the University of California Academic Salary Scale. This is a full-time, one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal based on availability of funding, ongoing operational needs and satisfactory performance.
