The STEM Center anticipates hiring a Remedial Tutor for the Academic Year 2020-2021. The job duties are to provide student-centered academic support for math, science and engineering courses; engage students in learning activities to enhance their academic knowledge and study skills development; when applicable, provide information related to resources on campus; encourage students to acknowledge personal responsibility for their own learning and academic accomplishments. Additional duties will include collecting and submitting tutor data and participating in STEM Center meetings and professional development workshops.
Non-Student Remedial Tutors are expected to hold at least a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and have maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average and received at least a “B” grade in the course (or equivalent) they are applying to serve in, and at least three years of tutoring experience. Experience with group tutoring and familiarity with UC Merced policies are preferred.
