Position description

The School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts seeks a lecturer to teach courses in Psychology for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters. Courses being offered may include but not limited to:

Introduction to Psychology
Abnormal Psychology
Human Sexuality
Psychology of Stereotype and Prejudice
Culture/Racial/Ethnic Diversity
Social Psychology
Positive Psychology
Research Methods in Psychology
Cognition, Affect, and Health

Abnormal Child Psychology
Developmental Psychology
Psychology of Aggression & Violence
Psychopharm: Drugs of Abuse

In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor is responsible for creating a syllabus, holding weekly office hours (2 hours/week), and grading examinations and/or papers. The instructor may also be required to hold discussion sections or supervise a graduate student teaching assistant.

Masters and/or PhD and experience teaching at the college or university level are required. Must be able to provide a record of excellence in teaching.

This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and appropriate collective bargaining agreement. Salary is based on an annual full time rate of $56,381.00.

Full time and part time positions available. Three courses in Fall and three courses in Spring are equivalent to full time position. Part time varies based on need and availability.

Fall Semester: August 19, 2020 – December 18, 2020
Spring Semester: January 12, 2021 – May 14, 2021
