A full-time postdoctoral research position is available in Dr. Jennifer Lu’s functional materials lab at the University of California, Merced to carry out research involving creation and characterization of 3D hierarchical porous conductive structures for energy storage and conversion as well as water purification. Research projects is highly interdisciplinary, and it would be a great opportunity for researchers who would like to broaden research experience and skills. The appointee is expected to stay abreast of current developments and opportunities, develop and execute research ideas and write research papers. The postdoctoral research is expected to play an important role in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
Qualifications: Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Engineering, Physics or a related field, extensive knowledge in inorganic synthesis and material characterization, demonstrated knowledge or expertise in electrochemistry and strong laboratory managerial and report/paper preparation skills. The successful candidate will have at least 1-2 first author peer-reviewed research papers.

The appointment will initially be 12 months with a high possibility for an extension of up to 12 additional months.
Salary is based on the University of California Academic Salary Scales. This is a full-time, one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal based on availability of funding, ongoing operational needs and satisfactory performance.
