The research group directed by Dr. Wan Du, is looking for a highly motivated and qualified Junior Specialist to build an Internet of Things (IoT) testbed based on Low Power Wide Area Networking (LPWAN) technology LoRa and conduct scientific research on the testbeds to solve some fundamental problem in LoRa networking, like energy fairness, robust transmission and massive access. Successful completion can lead to a demo system in the lab with both hardware and software development. Some in-field experiment results will also be obtained.
A master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required. An appointee should have a record of academic accomplishments including published or in-press research in the field and a demonstrated record of University and/or public service. The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills as well as accredited mentoring skills to mentor graduate and undergraduate students who will work on relevant projects. Highly self-motivated individuals who have demonstrated the ability to conduct scientific research independently and successfully are highly desirable.

Salary is based on the University of California Academic Salary Scales. It is a one-year full-time job. Renewal of the position is contingent on available funding and satisfactory performance.
