The Calvin E. Bright Success Center is the student hub for learning and support services. Peer Assisted Learning Support, PALS, is a learning community, where peers support peers through the learning process. Learning Assistants are held to high standards, specialists in their subjects, and role models who focus on student success.

Learning Assistants (Remedial Tutors) are required to work one-to-one with students and supervise individual projects to be completed by each student. They facilitate small/large groups, work with and guide students through the learning process.

Learning Assistants (Remedial Tutors) will provide support for homework as well as for on going literacy work. They will not correct written assignments or reading errors, but develop a framework within which each student can discover and apply appropriate language, reading, and/or learning skills.

Qualifications: Good written and verbal communication skills and competence in specific subject area(s) are required.

For Writing Tutors, a high grade in one of the following is required: WRI 10, WRI 100, 110, 116, 117 or WRI 199.

-Undergraduate in good academic standing
-Cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher
-High academic achievement in subject of interest
-Open availability for training
-Good communicative and people skills
-Responsible, punctual, and professional

Deadline: Positions are open until filled with a final closing date of June 30, 2021; consideration of applications will be on going. Applications will continue to be received until all positions have been filled. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2019 and will be open with anticipated appointments for a two-year (multi-year) term.

Salary is based on an hourly rate of $16.26 and is based on the UC academic salary scales.
