Position description

Dr. Alexander Petersen is looking for a self-motivated and qualified post-doctoral researcher to work full-time on a computationally intensive project involving the analysis of large-scale data on scientific research output. The candidate is expected to use his/her professional expertise in computational methods to make scientific and scholarly contributions in direct collaboration with Prof. Petersen.

The main goals of this position include: data acquisition of large publication data sets (collecting, cleaning and parsing); development and implementation of advanced computational methods (GPU computing, statistical analysis, modeling and interpretation of results; programming and software development); collaboration with Dr. Petersen and other lab/team members related to the project in the preparation of manuscripts, reports, and funding proposals related to the project; presentation of findings at conferences and other outreach events; occasional training of students and staff in the computational methods.

Qualifications: Highly self-motivated individuals who have demonstrated the ability to conduct scientific research with strong written and verbal communication skills are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have obtained a Doctoral degree in a computationally intensive field, such as but not limited to, computer science, computer engineering, or information science by the start date of the appointment. Experience in developing computer programs, data parsing (using e.g., Python, Mathematica, R) and effective data visualization, optimization, econometrics, and team science is also required.
