Position description

UC Merced is also building the Downtown Campus Center, a $33 million, three-story administrative building in the heart of Merced.

The School of Natural Sciences anticipates hiring full and part-time lecturer positions to teach the following subjects in AY 2019-2020:

Preparatory Calculus
Calculus I & II
Introduction to Scientific Data Analysis
Statistics for Scientific Data Analysis
Calculus I & II for Physical Sciences
Vector Calculus, Linear Algebra and Differential Equations
Probability and Statistics
Numerical Analysis
Other courses as needed

In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor will be evaluating student work and exams, calculating and posting grades, and holding regular posted office hours each week.

This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and appropriate collective bargaining agreement. Advanced degree in Applied Mathematics or related field and experience teaching at the college or university level is required.

Salary is based on an annual full-time salary of $54,738.00 and commensurate with experience.

Appointments for AY 2019/2020 and/or Fall 2019 semester are reviewed in April, and for Spring 2020 semester are reviewed in October. The posting will remain open through June 2020 to accommodate upcoming course needs and new applicants.
