A full-time Associate Specialist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Eva de Alba to support research associated with ongoing projects involving the structural and functional characterization of proteins and their assemblies, and the study of their potential biotechnological applications. Specifically, the Associate Specialist is expected to perform protein expression and purification as well as biophysical and biochemical/biophysical studies with the different techniques, that might include NMR, fluorescence anisotropy, Electron Microscopy. The Associate Specialist will also play an important role in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.

Qualifications: Applicants should have a Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics or a related field, although a Ph.D. in these fields is desirable. Applicants should also have experience in one or more of the following: single molecule techniques, optical traps, protein NMR and/or TEM, fluorescence spectroscopy, and experience in cloning, protein expression and purification. The successful candidate will have at least 2 first author peer-reviewed research papers.

Salary is based on the University of California Academic Salary Scales. This is a full-time, one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal based on availability of funding, ongoing operational needs and satisfactory performance.
