The Department of Bioengineering in the School of Engineering at the University of California Merced invites applications for a qualified Assistant Teaching Professor to coordinate and teach Computing for Bioengineers, Signals and Systems for Bioengineers, Biocircuit Theory, Bioelectronics, as well as potentially offer upper division technical elective courses in the area of design.
The job title is also known as Lecturer with Potential Security of Employment (LPSOE). This series parallels that of the research-focused series but with emphasis upon excellence in teaching and other instruction-related activities. Individuals in the position are expected to provide outstanding teaching, as well as to engage in professional activity (including research on pedagogy) and service related to the pedagogical mission of the department and university. This appointment confers membership in the Academic Senate, and, contingent upon promotion, tenure-paralleling security of employment.
Qualifications: Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering or related area by the start date.
Interested candidates will: (1) be enthusiastic about working with UC Merced's diverse student body, (2) have teaching experience or evidence of the ability to teach, particularly using student focused or student success centered approaches, (3) be interested in pushing the design thinking and design experience forward with our courses for 21st century curriculum, and (4) we are particularly interested in attracting academically and culturally diverse candidates, especially those who can contribute to the growing diversity and excellence of the community through their teaching, scholarship, and service.
